Solid State Lighting (SSL) is a technology that relies on LED devices to produce light, as opposed to traditional lighting sources such as halogen or incandescent bulbs. SSL uses electric currents to excite semiconductor materials within the LED device in order to generate photons, which are then emitted from the diode in the form of visible light. This process is both highly efficient and energy-saving, meaning fewer resources need to be used for producing the same amount of illumination
