Energy Policy Act of 2005 (EPACT)

The Energy Policy Act of 2005 (EPACT) is a federal energy law that seeks to promote energy efficiency and investments in alternative energy sources such as renewable wind, solar and biofuels. EPACT provides incentives for businesses to invest in clean energy technologies and offers various tax credits for the purchase of efficient appliances or vehicles. It also established national energy programs to increase energy security, reduce dependence on foreign oil, reduce air pollution from existing power plants, fund research into alternative and renewable fuels, encourage cleanup of contaminated sites, and grant states funding to help implement clean-energy projects.
