Luminance

Luminance is the total brightness of a surface or object, as viewed from a particular angle. It is measured in candelas (or lumens) per unit area and is usually expressed in lux or lumens per square meter (lm/m²). Luminance is an important factor to consider when designing lighting systems, as it affects how much light reaches a given area, and the level of contrast between different surfaces in a space.
