Luminous efficacy is the ratio of light output to power input for a luminaire or other light source. It is usually expressed in lumens per watt (lm/W) and is a measure of the efficiency of the light source. The higher the luminous efficacy, the more efficient the light source and the less electrical power required to achieve the same level of illumination.
