OLED stands for organic light-emitting diode and is a type of technology used in various electronic displays. OLEDs are composed of organic compounds that emit light when an electrical current is passed through them, producing a bright, clear display with excellent contrast. OLEDs are thin and highly efficient, with much lower energy consumption than traditional LCD or LED displays.
The basic components of an OLED display include an emissive layer made of a conductive material such as carbon nanotubes and an encapsulating layer that prevents the emission from escaping. Each pixel is made up of several layers including the cathode, which carries the current; the anode, which receives it; and the light-emitting layer which emits visible light when electrified.
