Usable Light Hours, also referred to as photosynthetically active radiation (PAR), is the amount of light that is available for a photo-synthesizing organism such as a plant to absorb and use. PAR ranges from 400-700 nanometers (nm) in wavelength, which is considered visible light, and is measured in units of energy over time (usually hours per day).
