The 5th episode of the Great Christmas Light Fight’s seventh season was a major occasion, drawing in an impressive 3.27 million viewers on ABC on December 16, 2019. The DeGennaro family from Las Vegas, Nevada presented their North Pole in the desert, showcasing their 30-year-long love story through the decoration. Their display featured eight DIY reindeer, a candy river with homemade gingerbread men on the outside, and over 1,700 decorations stacked from floor to ceiling on the inside. Meanwhile, the Sowell family from Milton, Florida exhibited their 15-acre farmland display featuring over 1 million lights that recreated a beach scene with actual Florida beach sand, a carnival scene with their homemade Ferris wheel, an automated Santa kissing Mrs. Claus, and a nativity scene with live people, a camel, and zebras. Lastly, the Beltran family from Moreno Valley, California presented their winter wonderland, including over 40 mounted rooftop decorations, a vintage Nativity scene, wireframes, and blow molds that covered their entire yard.
It all began with a towering mega tree that caught Mark Miranda’s eye outside an Edmond business. And so, the Miranda Family Lights were born. From humble beginnings, the light display has since evolved into a stunning spectacle, thanks in no small part to the contributions of Mark and Liz’s kids, Mia, Logan, and Kylie.
With each passing year, the Miranda children have become more involved in the project, playing crucial roles in creating the mesmerizing display. Mia assists Liz with the time-consuming task of sequencing and syncing the lights with music, while Logan and Kylie eagerly decorate the house and climb the ladders to add finishing touches.
Giving back is an integral part of the Miranda Family Lights, and although admission to the display is free, the family has implemented a passive donation system, requesting cash donations be made to the Regional Food Bank. One year, the family raised an impressive $10,000 through donations alone.
This year’s display promises to be bigger and better than ever, following an epic 80s theme and featuring a special tribute to Liz’s late father’s favorite movie, Christmas Vacation. The show spans over 7 minutes and encompasses 8 songs, with a special surprise video appearance from the Miranda kids guaranteed to delight all who watch.
Sowell’s North Pole is the ultimate family tradition, offering an unforgettable Christmas experience for all ages. With over ONE MILLION lights on display, visitors are sure to be charmed by the award-winning light show, which includes a brand new mega pixel tree. In fact, the family-run business won the “Great Christmas Light Fight” in 2019, solidifying their reputation as masters of the holiday display.

Admission to Sowell’s North Pole is just $15 per vehicle, with train tickets available for $2 per person. Visitors can pay at the gate with cash or purchase tickets online in advance. The display is open every night from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm, weather permitting, from Thanksgiving through to Christmas Day at 7650 Sowell Road.
Sowell’s North Pole has partnered with the Santa Rosa Kid’s House, a child advocacy center that serves abused and neglected children. They collect new hoodies and pajamas for children of all ages, which will be delivered to the organization. Visitors to the Christmas lights display are encouraged to bring these items along to contribute to the cause.
Under the watchful eye of Soledad, the beloved matriarch of the family, the Beltran household transforms into a winter wonderland each holiday season. The main attraction? The incredible Christmas lights display that sprawls across the entire roof of their two-story house, carefully balanced on 11 towering homemade platforms.
As soon as the leaves begin to fall, the Beltran family forsakes their usual routines and tirelessly dedicate all their efforts and energy into making sure that their neighborhood, and anyone else who passes by their house, has a magical and festive experience.
Soledad supervises and assists the rest of the family as they work to erect the platforms, each one a work of art in and of itself, and stringing up thousands of twinkling lights. It’s a long and arduous process, but for the Beltrans, the reward is more than worth the effort.
Once night finally falls, the result is simply breathtaking. The glimmering display illuminates the street in a dazzling array of colors, reflecting off the sparkling snowflakes and creating a spectacle that is nothing short of magical.

Carter Oosterhouse is a man who knows his way around a roof. Born and raised in Traverse City, Michigan, Carter’s passion for construction and renovation began at a young age when he spent his summers working for his father’s roofing company.
After studying at Central Michigan University, Carter moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in modeling and acting, but he never forgot his roots in construction. Soon enough, he landed his own DIY show, “Carter Can,” which showed viewers how to tackle ambitious home renovation projects on a budget.
Carter’s love for home improvement only grew from there, and he went on to host several other hit home improvement shows, including “Red Hot and Green” and “Million Dollar Rooms.” He also became a regular contributor to “The Rachael Ray Show,” where he shared his expert tips on everything from decorating to roof repair.
