Christmas in Ida Introduces New Michigan Board

The Christmas in Ida Festival and Parade of Lights has announced its board of directors for this year’s event, which will take place from December 1-3. The board members include Dale W. Zorn as the executive director, Carl Cramer as the assistant executive director and downtown manager, Sue Pickens as the chairperson, and various other individuals overseeing different aspects of the festival.

One of the highlights of the festival is the Parade of Lights, and this year’s chairman for the parade is Matt LaVoy. Additionally, an entertainment search has begun for the Lay-Z-Boy Family Concert Series, which will feature Country Music and Young Country Music Concerts. The Commemorative Concert, featuring national entertainment, will take place on Friday night.

Applications are now open for craft and vendor shows at various locations, including Ida High School, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, the downtown Ida Christmas Mall, and outdoor streetside spaces. The deadline for applications is October 7, and spaces are expected to sell out quickly.

During a recent board meeting, it was revealed that the downtown Christmas lights, which have been in use for 40 years, are in need of repair or replacement. A committee has been appointed to research the best course of action and will present their findings and plan at the next board meeting.

The Christmas in Ida website offers an historical documentary production called “Celebrating 40 Years of Christmas in Ida,” which showcases the festival’s four decades through photos, videos, and interviews with residents. Additionally, past Parade of Lights can be viewed on Monroe Public Access Cable Television (MPACT).
